General Description:
• To provide effective quality control from goods inwards inspection throughout production process by ensuring that the capture, reporting and resolution of all quality related non-conformities is undertaken in an efficient and timely manner.
• Maintaining and updating the company Quality Assurance database (NCR) with the overall target objective of reducing both internal and external non-conformities.
• Liaising with the supplier quality engineer and other stakeholders to communicate quality defects affecting production, with timely resolution. Providing QA data to support implementation of corrective actions with the support of the manufacturing engineering team.
Main Duties:
• Facilitate a culture of RFT throughout production by facilitating daily MRB meetings, managing the internal issues raised, promoting process compliance, conducting root cause analysis, and implementing corrective actions.
• Monitor and maintain a strategic Goods Inwards QA inspection process to ensure incoming materials meet required drawings and specifications, whilst ensuring continuity of supply to production.
• Liaise with all stakeholders to ensure that there is clear communication of all quality related issues and that production blockages are communicated with a prompt and concise action plan for correction.
• Recording of all NCR’s (non-conformities) and the development of associated reporting process to enable QA related issues to be clearly identified, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner. Reporting of NCR trends and related action logs.
• Review and develop task specific work instructions in conjunction with Product development and Production support. Conduct periodic reviews of shop floor work instructions to ensure they are kept up to date.
• Supporting the Supplier quality engineer to review supplier metrics with the target of improving the Cost of Poor Quality and the impact to the production line.
• Feedback of quality data to production teams by means of regular meetings to include team leaders and supervisors, highlighting areas for improvement.
• Provide information for quarterly reports on QA performance.
Ancillary Duties:
Ability to conduct both internal and external QA audits as required. Support with inspection duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- Relevant manufacturing/engineering /science degree preferred.
- Minimum of three years previous experience in a similar QA role within a fast-moving production environment (Preferred) and/or practical mechanical / manufacturing engineering experience within a similar setting.
- Strong technical knowledge required (in the marine, aerospace and or automotive industry preferred).
- Strong ability to read and understand engineering drawings.
- Strong experience of product inspection advantageous.
- Internal auditing experience.
- Proven knowledge and application of 8D, FAIR, PPAP & FMEA.
- Knowledge of AS9100 (preferable but not restricted to), minimum knowledge of ISO 9001.
- Understanding of ISO14001 and Health and Safety practices
